Natana Dance provides education in a nurturing and creative environment for children up to adults in dance and fitness. Natana Dance believes in educating our children and youth with positive and imaginative practice. Our classes are aimed to guide the individual to explore their artistry as well as be educated in performance etiquette and the discipline of classical ballet. Dance is a beautiful art, but also a tool for building self-esteem and good character, no matter what level or background.
Natana fitness classes are focused on supporting clients to stay motivated and gain empowerment for a healthy mind and body. There is no judgement here! We’re here to have fun and build a community together. All classes are offered at beginner level through to professional level in the Madison, WI area.
Natana is inspired by two sisters from the UK, Natalie and Anna, both dancers. Natalie is classically trained in ballet, jazz, modern and musical theater. Anna is trained in tango, samba, modern and contemporary. Natana Dance brings them together as they share their passion of dance with everyone who takes their classes.
Natana dance is where you’ll find expert training in dance and fitness. Whether you’re a training to be a pro or a first timer, we can guarantee quality education and experience, while giving you the support you need to grow and improve.
About Natalie Thompson
Meet Natalie Thompson, the founder of Natana Dance! She teaches dance to all ages, as well as yoga and barrefit classes.
Natalie began dancing at 3 years of age. She was inspired at 11 years old to be a professional dancer, after watching the exciting and spectacular RiverDance by Michael Flatley. After leaving home at 16 to persue her training professionally in the UK, she graduated in 2001 with a Teachers Associate degree and Performing Arts diploma in ballet, jazz, tap, flamenco, contemporary and musical theater. From 19 years old Natalie was travelling globally, modeling and performing on TV, Theaters, Cruiseships, Hotels and the plain outdoors around the U.K, Europe and North America.
After an injury in 2006, she moved to Barcelona, Spain, where she continued to pursue her dancing, and joined the successful Slam Dancing Productions Jazz Company, while also teaching at various studios for young children and choreographing for a musical theater school ” Escola Memory.”
After a return to the U.K and brief break in 2009, Natalie worked independently teaching dance and fitness at various schools and sports clubs, as well as choreographing for Wedding Dance U.K. In 2010 she moved to Chicago with her husband and continued her teaching and dance training with Giordano Dance Chicago, Visceral Dance Center, Joel Hall Dance and Lou Conte. Natalie’s credits include dancing with Joel Hall Dancers, Alliance Dance and HappyNia Dance Theater, Winifred Haun Dancers and Deeply Rooted Dance Theater. To maintain her dance fitness and for injury prevention, she fell in love with Yoga and in 2011 she completed her 200 hrs Hatha Yoga certification. In addition to dancing and choreographing, she regularly practices Yoga. Natalie is ever thankful to her practice which has maintained her strength and focus in pursuing her goals.
Since moving from England, Natalie continues her mission to inspire young dancers and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Natalie is so excited to begin her journey with Natana Dance, to educate young dancers in a nurturing environment and create a space for students to train and use their art in a way that they haven’t been able to before.
